Question: #4: Customizing inkjet cartridges...?
Is there anyway to customize inkjet cartridges to print different types of solutions? For example, I'm doing a science project where I need to print an even layer of platinum solution onto paper. Is this even feasible? The TLC Plate Streaker sounds like it could do the job. The thing I like about the inkjet idea (even though I'm not sure as to its feasibility) is that I can print over the same area over and over again to achieve a desired thickness (controlling the thickness is basically what my experiment is centered on). I would then take the printed paper and sinter it onto my substrate. Can anyone possibly point me to any documented sources of someone doing this type of this? - asked by Ronnie F

Question: #42: Which do you prefer, color laserjet or color inkjet printer?
Hi Everyone,I have a Lexmark C510 color laserjet. When it works, it produces higher quality, more durable prints than inkjets. The colors don't fade, and they resist smearing because they're not water soluble like the inks used in inkjet cartridges. The problem, at least with the C510, involves high maintenance costs in order to keep getting quality printouts. I'm frequently replacing toner cartridges, photodeveloper cartridges, fusers, and even waste toner bottles (!!!) to remove color banding and streaks from the printouts. Lexmark hasn't been able to give me satisfactory reasons for all this maintenance other than "replace this, replace that," etc.Needless to say, these color cartridges are a lot more expensive than ink cartridges. What's your take on this? Are color laserjets worth the high maintenance costs in order to get higher quality output than inkjets? Thanks to all for taking the time to read this lengthy question.Have a good day!!!Big Al Mintaka - asked by almintaka

Question: #48: Laserjet Toner?
I am thinking about buying an HP laserjet printer in the near future. I've only owned inkjet printers before this, and I'm tired of having to replace the inkjet cartridges because they dry up before I can finish using them. Also, they're not cheap, as you well know.We don't use our home printer everyday. Sometimes we don't even turn it on more than once a month. What I was wondering is - does laserjet printer toner become unusable if not used for a long time, like the inkjet ink does, or does it last for a couple of years. I'm thinking that laserjet toner is in powder form already, so it can't dry out since it's already dry? Am I wrong. To replace the toner cartridge would be around $70, which isn't cheap either, but I'm hoping it lasts longer than the inkjet cartridges do. Thanks for any info you can give me. - asked by Living in Calif
